Hi!
First I just wanted to start off by saying that I had never planned on applying for server staff again after I resigned early this year. But with the closing of Hogwarts, and the start of a server with a brand new theme, it's made me want to try being gamemaker again. Towards the end my last run, I wasn't feeling very encouraged to get on and do events and such. While that was for a few reasons, I think one of them was because I was somewhat exhausted on the whole Harry Potter theme. I felt that I had nothing creative or fun to contribute anymore when it came to doing events for the server, other than just making dupes for people to enjoy. I will say I don't think this server change has suddenly made me extremely enthusiastic or given me a huge boost in creativeness, but I do feel better about the idea of being gamemaker more than I did several months ago. So I just wanted to try it one last time.
Applicants Steam ID - STEAM_0:0:26709567
(1) Do you agree to and accept the Volunteer Staff Application Terms & Conditions? If so, please answer with "Yes, I do agree and accept these terms and conditions."
Yes, I do agree and accept these terms and conditions.
(1a) What is your most recent or commonly known in-game name or alias?
I go by Sibyl Meadows.
(1b) What is your current acuity level in-game?
I'm at Master Prestige 1 at the moment.
(1c) List any alternative Steam accounts you may have.
I don't have any.
(2) In which time zone do you reside?
I'm in Pacific Standard Time.
(2a) Please provide the hours of the day that you are the most active on the Galaxy of Magic server according to CST, so the managers and staff know when they can expect to see you.
I'm on mostly later in the day, in the evening, and at night.
(3) What is your age?
I'm 23.
(4) Approximately, when was the first time that you joined our Galaxy of Magic server and how did you initially discover it?
Well I joined Galaxy of Magic the day it launched, but I started playing on the previous Hogwarts server back in 2016.
(4a) How can we be certain that you will remain active on the server upon being accepted for a volunteer staffing position?
Even though my activity on the server has varied over time, I've always been around and taking part in the community. And especially with the new start of the Galaxy of Magic iteration, it's encouraged me to get on more and made me eager to see how it turns out.
(4b) Do you understand that you can be let go at any time for excessive inactivity at our discretion?
Yes most definitely!
(5) Do you understand and agree to not only comply with, but also enforce the rules of the server when necessary?
Of course!
(5a) Please explain each of the main server rules and what they each mean, to convey to us that you understand and comprehend them wholly.
1 ~ No Fail RP ~ Doing anything that doesn't make sense or fit the role of the specific job you're playing as. Like for example a teacher freespelling a student.
2 ~ Be Respectful ~ I think this mostly explains itself. Any inappropriate or mean-spirited insults or attitude towards another player I would consider disrespectful.
3 ~ No RDM ~ This is basically killing another player without a real reason in roleplay, such as a celestial player killing an unrevealed void player.
4 ~ Obey Staff And RP Leaders ~ Closely related to Fail RP, jobs should obey other jobs that are their roleplay leader. An enforcer refusing to listen to a teacher would be an example. Also, no matter the situation, in the end the staff have the final say and not listening would be breaking this rule.
5 ~ No Freespelling ~ For the most part, this refers to attacking someone with a damage spell without any reason to.
6 ~ No Metagaming ~ To me this is using information that you've obtained outside of roleplay to get some kind of an advantage in a scenario. Typically this happens outside of the game, like someone finding out in a discord call that the void player they've been hunting is hiding in a certain area.
7 ~ Do Not Mic Spam Or Chat Spam ~ Just like it says, please do not spam your microphone or in-game chat!
8 ~ Telemail Is For RP Purposes Only ~ Saying something with telemail should only be done for specific roleplay scenarios, and not something to be used as normal chat.
9 ~ No ERP ~ This is doing or saying anything overly sexual, whether it be within roleplay or out of character.
10 ~ No Exploiting Or Cheating Of Any Kind ~ Avoiding the AFK system to gain experience or glitching outside the map could be considered exploiting. And of course cheating can refer to many different things, but most common I guess would be using third-party programs in Garry's Mod to abuse the game.
(6) Tell us a little about yourself and why you would like to be accepted for a volunteer staffing position on SBS.
Well I first joined SBS back in 2016, and ever since then dedicated much of my time to it. I've loved getting to know so many nice people over the past several years and despite some ups and downs within the community, I really want to help keep it going. And for more personal things about me, I really love listening to music, reading, and anything to do with horror! :)
(7) In your opinion, which quality of yourself do you feel that you need to improve on the most?
While this hasn't really affected me for a bit, there have been times where I think too much about something and eventually puts me in a not-so-good mood. Which in turn can distance me from people or discourage me from doing things. But I'd say for a while now that hasn't been a problem so much.
(7a) In your opinion, which skill set of yours do you feel that you need to improve on the most?
Multitasking is something I've always been so horrible at, so whenever I get too focused on one thing, I'll become totally oblivious to a lot of things around me. Like when I was previously server staff, I would often times miss things said in chat because I was too focused on a sit or building something. But it's always something I'm trying to improve!
(8) How would having you on our volunteer staff team benefit our server and what qualities set you apart from the rest of the applicants?
Well I've been a part of this community for a long time now, and I've been in a few different positions, so I like to think that I have a pretty good idea on how things work and what needs to be done as a staff member.
(9) Have you ever previously maintained a game server staffing position, or currently are, on any other Garry's Mod servers? If so, which ones, and in which staffing positions?
I used to be a gamemaker and also moderator for the previous Hogwarts server, and also was a gamemaker for the Halo server for around a month when it first launched. But currently I'm not staff on any Garry's Mod servers.
(10) Have you ever previously been banned on any Garry's Mod or SBS servers? If yes, then please list approximately when, how long, and the reasoning(s).
No I've never been banned before.
(11) In your opinion, are the server staff or the players of more importance? Why?
I don't think you can't really have one without the other. If there was no staff whatsoever, then the server would just be completely crazy and not be a fun place to play, eventually leading to no one getting on. And obviously without players, there's really no point in having a server. So I can't really say one is more important than the other. Just that both are necessary to having a good community.
(12) How would you rate your skills overall out of ten?
Well I don't really like to give myself a rating, but I'll describe how I see them!
~ Patience ~ I think I do well for the most part in stressful situations and take the time to work with people who might be frustrated or acting unreasonable.
~ Response Time ~ Most of the time I'm able to do things fairly quickly, but like I mentioned above, my inability to multitask and get distracted might impact that.
~ Explaining Things ~ I think I have a way of making things clear to people who have trouble understanding something, whether it be the process for something, or explaining a rule.
~ Fairness ~ I don't think I let myself become too worked up or derailed from a specific topic or issue to where I end up making a bad decision.
~ Getting Along With Others ~ I don't really like to find many negatives in people and I try my best to be friendly, even if I may have disagreements with someone.
(13) On a scale from 1 to 10, how familiar are you with Garry's Mod's default tools, context menus, and utility menus?
Maybe a 6 or 7? I definitely wouldn't consider myself an expert or anything, but my previous experience as gamemaker has definitely made me knowledgeable in Garry's Mod tools and commands.
(14) Provide us with at least two detailed examples of events that you would orchestrate and how you would proceed with organizing, operating, and constructing them.
Since the whole Greek god theme or even the specific server lore is kind of new to me, I don't think these event ideas will be the best :p I still have a lot to learn about the mythology and lore surrounding it all. There're only a few right now, but I'll probably add more later!

(15) Do you have any prior experience using ULX administrative system or sandbox building on Garry's Mod?
I do! Since I used to be gamemaker.
(16) You both understand and realize, that by applying for a volunteer staffing position on the server, you are sacrificing the complete freedom of being able to role-play and or socialize freely all the time without any interruptions, and are obligated to handle all server issues and or volunteer staff position tasks at hand no matter the situation and to the best of your abilities?
Yes I do understand and realize!
(17) Please provide a list of all previous volunteer staff applications, provide a link to them if possible, and list any reasons why they may have been locked. If they were previously accepted, please provide a short explanation of why you are no longer volunteer staff at the time of this application.
Linking my previous applications won't work since they're all hidden right now. Except for my very first application, since that was on the old original forums, so it's gone forever :(
1st Application ~ Was for my original moderator position on Hogwarts. It was accepted and I later became gamemaker.
2nd Application ~ Was for moderator on Halo. Application was closed because I applied for gamemaker instead.
3nd Application ~ Was for gamemaker on Halo. It was accepted but I later resigned.
4th Application ~ Was for my previous gamemaker position on Hogwarts. It was accepted but I eventually resigned after a couple years.
5th Application ~ Was for my first forum admin attempt. Another person was chosen so it was closed.
6th Application ~ Was for my second forum admin attempt. Another was chosen for that too, so it was also closed.
7th Application ~ Was for my third forum admin attempt. It was accepted and I still have it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my application! :)
